How to record expenses and read the expense book
Write each expense once. The expense book then shows every expense type against the twelve months, so you see where the money goes and what grew.
Step by step
- Add your business once. In My data.
- Write each expense. Expense: date, expense type (rent, electricity, salary and wages…), amount and how you paid. Your own types are kept for next time.
- Add details. Who you paid and their bill number; GST rate and I will claim input tax credit on this GST when allowed.
- Not paid yet? Choose Not paid yet (on credit): it counts in its month and shows in Dues › To pay.
- Read the expense book. Types against April to March, with totals, this month and your biggest expense.
- Print or share. PDF or CSV.
Worked example
April–October: rent ₹8,000 a month (₹56,000), electricity rising from ₹1,600 to ₹2,900 in summer, wages ₹21,000 a month. The book shows wages as the biggest head (₹1,47,000) and electricity up 81% in May.
